The 2024 Education Graduate Students’ Research Conference marks the 25th annual research conference hosted by the University of Manitoba’s Education Graduate Students' Association (EdGSA) and the Office of the Associate Dean of Graduate Research. The conference aims to promote education graduate students' research and scholarly activities, allowing them to present and discuss their work in a supportive, academic forum.

The presentations, round table discussions, and posters explore transformative and emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in education and envision the future of teaching, learning, researching, and theorizing in education.

When and where will the conference be held?
The 2024 Conference is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 to Saturday, May 4 with a pre-conference social gathering planned for Wednesday, May 1.
The conference will be held in person in the Faculty of Education building at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

2024 Call for Proposals
Who may apply?
The Conference is open to all students currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program, as well as individuals who have exited a graduate program in the past calendar year (2023).
What kind of presentation formats are accepted?
Individuals can use the following presentation formats:
- Presentation: Individuals will present their work and/or creative project for 15 minutes, followed by a 15-minute joint Q&A session with other presenters.
- Facilitated round table discussion: In a 20-minute session, individuals will share an idea they are working on (e.g., a research project or creative work) and receive feedback from attendees.
- Artefacts/Posters: In a multimedia gallery space, individuals will share artefacts of a research project. Artefacts can include videos, creative works, hardcopy posters, digital posters, etc.
Preparing Your Proposal
What needs to be in the proposal?
Your proposal should include basic information about the presenter (e.g., your name, program, and university), as well as information about your research project, including title, 3-5 keywords, and a 350-500-word research summary.

- method(s)/mode(s) of inquiry
- data source(s)
- results, conclusions, and/or interpretations
- educational importance
- connection to the theme
When are proposals due?
The 2024 Conference will have an early deadline, as well as a final deadline. Those who submit their proposals by the early deadline will have their proposals reviewed first and thus will receive information about their acceptance first. Additionally, those who submit by the early deadline will be eligible for our inaugural Conference Proposal Prize!
The early deadline is Wednesday, January 17 at 11:59 PM Central.

How will proposals be reviewed?
The conference organizing committee will review the proposals alongside faculty members from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Education. The review process is meant to support your proposal and presentation. As such, feedback will be constructive. Acceptance will be based on scholarly merit and connection to the theme, as well as clarity of research objectives, methods, and proposed and/or established conclusions.
Everyone who submits a proposal will be notified of their status by Sunday, March 10.
